A  DS3 circuit, also referred to as T3, is mostly used as high speed internet access for business use. A DS3 has a bandwidth of 45 Megabit per second (44.736 Mbps to be more precise), and this is fully symmetrical so a DS3 has an upload and download speed of 45Mbps.

T1 and T3 are typically leased by organizations  at a monthly or yearly rate to connect geographically separated offices for private voice and/or data networking. The high cost of these lines prevents most individuals from renting them.
